Hennessy started as a cognac producer in 1765. Today you can go to the city of Cognac and visit this amazing Maison.
I got the chance to make a stop in this region and discovered their new tour circuit. It is perfect to capture the story of this huge brand. First of all, we were really lucky because when we were there, the temporary summer exhibit was still open and available to the public before the visit. So we got the chance to discover the milestones and the evolution of this family through time. This exhibit was really informative.
Then we started the tour with a lovely guide. We took a solar-powered boat to explore the banks of the Charente River. The Maison offers a journey back in time, to understand the challenges that all the heirs of this family had to face, everything was on various screens, which made the presentation really alive and dynamic. They also showed us thanks to that support how they took part in the international fame of Cognac. Afterwards, our guide explained the making process of the cognac, which was really complex and interesting to compare with the champagne making process. During the explanations we were in the Hennessy ageing cellars, where all the eaux-de-vie mature in French Oak Casks, this place was really impressive.
They understood the impact of digitalization and use various tools to explain the making process of this amazing spirit to allow your mind to be perfectly concentrated all along the tour.
The experience continued with a tasting so you can appreciate the different qualities of their range of cognac... and ended by an invitation at the Hennessy Boutique.
